Terms and Conditions

 EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

(Door finishing instructions to validate product guarantee)

At Kershaws Doors Ltd we take great care in sourcing the best quality products currently available. To ensure you obtain continued satisfaction, please follow these few simple instructions, as it is vital your door is finished correctly.

• Every door must be sealed immediately after unpacking – prior to being hung.

• For EXTERNAL doors, only oil based varnish/paint which is “Microporous” (Breathable) is acceptable. We recommend a minimum of 5 coats of Sikkens/Sadolin to the front, back, sides, and especially to the top and bottom of the door.

• Any planed edges, cut outs for hinges, locks, letter plates, handles etc. must be additionally sealed during the hanging procedure, so no moisture ingress whatsoever can occur.

• Regular maintenance will more than repay the effort involved and will keep your door in good condition and looking new for many years. We suggest every 2/3 years give your external door a light sanding, and apply an additional refresher coat.

• For INTERNAL doors, only an oil based varnish/paint is acceptable (not water based), with at least 3 or 4 coats being applied to the front, back, and all 4 edges.

• Should a waxed finish be required, you must seal the timber using a sanding sealer solution prior to applying the wax top coats.

• Any planed edges, cut outs for hinges, latches, handles etc. must be additionally sealed during the hanging procedure, so no moisture ingress whatsoever can occur. (This includes pre-finished doors).
